Are you ready to lead and inspire an organisation that brings together key stakeholders across Scotland. Best Bar None Scotland is a seeking a committed individual to join our team as Chair of the Board. Identifying priorities, managing challenges and making best use of our collective resources.

The Best Bar None Scotland board consists of stakeholders from key organisations across the country: Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Chivas Brothers – Pernod Ricard, Diageo, Edrington, C&C Group, Scottish Alcohol Industry Partnership and Scottish Licensed Trade Association.

We are seeking a chair to lead four meetings per annum, attend our National Awards event and to help guide and challenge our approach and enable ambitious conversations to take place. The Chair will provide leadership, ensuring that our strategic objectives are met and that the board operates effectively. This pivotal role requires a blend of diplomacy, strategic foresight, and a deep commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of the organisation.

The role of Chair will be fully supported by the facilitating organisation, Best Bar None Scotland, with all secretariat functions provided. The role is a leadership one and not administrative.

This is a voluntary position, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. The term of office is typically two years, with the possibility of reappointment.

•              Strong leadership, partnership and relationship skills

•              Experience in governance and strategic planning.

 •             Excellent communication and consensus-building skills.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following personal qualities, skills and experience:

Sector Knowledge:

A good understanding of the on trade, its challenges, and opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Extensive experience in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including partners, funders, and the wider community.

Leadership:

Experience in chairing and board development along with an understanding of governance, strategic planning and financial literacy.
